IncubateTheEgg is the home of my blog and online portfolio. Let me start by telling you a little of what I’m interested in and a little of why I do what I do.

Flash Development

I first became interested in Flash when i wanted to learn how to make animations. Since then ive become interested in computer programming and using actionScript to develop user interactions. Im currently involved in creating learning activities for interactive whiteboards.

Web Development

My background is in the visual arts but ive recently moved over to web development. I still get to be creative but now its in a more logical, code oriented way. ‘User Interfaces’ is, I guess, the term which best describes what i do. These can range from Flash applications to standard HTML web-sites. It’s really about finding the best solution for a given problem. Most of my efforts go into making usable, standards compliant websites. I also like the variety this entails, one minute I’m a designer, the next an engineer, other times a marketing and branding consultant. I’m currently working on a social network site for teachers which will allow them to share ITP resources. When its ready it will be located at www.itpresource.co.uk.

About this Blog

“IncubateTheEgg” - Why not incubate the egg that’s what I say. It’s more catchy than www.embryonicdevelopment.com, and I have a feeling that was already taken. This domain is intended as a flexible entity. There is also a Flash portfolio and a web consultancy vying for the space but it was first come first serve. So there is a chance, in future the blog will become www.incubatetheegg.com/paulrowe. The blog, as you may of noticed already, is focused mainly around web development. If it seems a little heavy on theory and jargon thats because the blog was originally created for a web development module I did at University. No doubt the subject matter will deviate as time goes on. Who knows it could end up as a blog devoted exclusively to the hobby of rearing peregrine falcons. Stick around and find out.
